In “The Search Party,” Pastor Joshua Kennon preaches from Luke 15:1–10, where Jesus tells the parables of the lost sheep and the lost coin.

These stories reveal something beautiful about the heart of God: Grace doesn’t just welcome the lost when they arrive. Grace goes looking.

Jesus tells these parables after the Pharisees complain, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” While the religious leaders mutter, the shepherd searches, the woman searches, and heaven rejoices when one sinner repents.

This sermon explores what it means to be spiritually lost, why repentance matters, how God moves toward sinners in grace, and how Jesus ultimately came looking for us through His perfect life, substitutionary death, and bodily resurrection.

And for those who have been found by grace, Jesus calls us to share the Shepherd’s heart toward others.

This week’s call: Pray every day for one lost person by name, and take one appropriate relational step toward them.

Hear the story. See the King. Answer the call.
