In Jonah 4:5–11, God uses a plant, a worm, and a scorching wind to expose Jonah’s heart. Jonah cared deeply about his own comfort, but struggled to care about the people of Nineveh. Through God’s final question, “Should I not have concern?”, we are invited to examine our own hearts.

In this sermon, Pastor Joshua Kennon reminds us that God is more merciful than we expect—and He’s after our hearts, not just our behavior. God’s compassion is not small, selective, or sentimental. He sees sin clearly, but He also sees sinners with concern. Most of all, He has shown His mercy through Jesus Christ, who gave Himself as our substitute, died in our place, and rose again so sinners like us could be forgiven and made new.
